The more I read in Handbook of Nature Study, the more I desire time outside. I do believe that its long-gone author, Anna Botsford Comstock, would be well pleased by that sentiment.
The big thing about yesterday’s excursion was dragonflies. I have never seen so many varieties in one place before. They were beautiful and plentiful. Thankfully only a little stealth was needed to get some good photos.
Other photos were of a bumblebee, in flight. Of Whingari in my lap…which is where she remained during almost our entire time at the brook. Of Whingari eating and then ‘signing’ apple. Of deer prints in the dried mud. Of boys enjoying the time in the very cold water.
