Last week found me reading this book:
…quite a wonderful read…enlightening…plenty of ‘brain food’ for this homeschooling mama. 😀
A few quotes/observations:
‘…we cannot separate gifted children into bits, as if they were really normal children who fit the usual mold but with some extras tacked on like lace adornment. Gifted children are not simply decorated normal children. They are indeed, fundamentally different…the brain that drives them is so fundamental to everything about them that it cannot be separated from their personhood.’
Webb, et al Guiding the Gifted Child
Piaget describes learning as the accommodation that must be made between what already exists in the system and the new input.
Differences are the source of stimulation:
No difference — no novelty — no stimulation
